Despite suffering persecution and even in some cases martyrdom, the minority Christian community and church in Sri Lanka is the only institution that has the bandwidth to encompass all Sri Lankans from across the ethnic divide. The Church in Sri Lanka holds a vital key for reconciliation. Importantly it presents the witness of Christ’s love in this troubled country and an opportunity for the growth of the Church.
‘Young Ambassadors’ Peace and Reconciliation programme, is mobilizing young Sri Lankan Christians from across the ethnic divide as peace educators to their communities and generation. The cost of this programme is not significant at $23,000, and we have an initial seed grant from TEAR Fund New Zealand of $5000 NZ if matching funds can be found. If you are in a position to introduce the Young Ambassadors Programme to potential donors who have a special interest in Peace and Reconciliation, please contact Kellie Curtis at WEAPRI Secretariat and request a proposal be sent to you.
